About Kyle Bourland
Kyle has been working as an electrician for 11 years across both residential and commercial settings on projects ranging from single-family homes and multi-family apartment buildings to hospitals and large commercial facilities.
Upon earning his Master Electrician license, Kyle opened Bourland Electric and has been focused entirely on residential work in the Colorado Springs area.
Outside of work, Kyle and his wife enjoy hiking, camping, and exploring everything Colorado has to offer. His wife served six years in the military before pursuing her career as a Registered Nurse at Evans Army Community Hospital. That sense of service is something Kyle carries with him in his own work.

Understanding Electrical Licenses
Not all electricians hold the same credentials, and those differences matter when it comes to who can legally pull permits and run a business. Here is how the license tiers work in Colorado.
Apprentice Electrician — In training, working under the supervision of a licensed electrician while completing the required 8,000 hours of on-the-job training and 2 years of coursework to become a Journeyman Electrician.
Journeyman Electrician — Has completed their apprenticeship and passed a state exam. A Journeyman is qualified to perform electrical work, but must work under an electrical contractor that has a Master Electrician on record. A Journeyman electrician cannot pull an electrical permit.
Master Electrician — Has completed additional years of experience as a Journeyman and passed a more comprehensive state exam.
Electrical Contractor — A licensed business that is registered at the state level. This business is authorized to contract electrical work and pull permits in Colorado. To operate as one, the company must have a licensed Master Electrician on record. Kyle holds both a Master Electrician license and an Electrical Contractor license.
